For family members of adults with mental illness (brain disorders).

A 12-week, two and one-half hours per week, experiential course based on the family support model.

Teachers are trained, experienced family members of adults with mental illness.

Free of charge.

A nine-week, two hours per week, experiential education course on the topic of recovery.

Taught by a team of three trained "mentors" or peer-teachers who are experienced at living well with mental illness.

A ten-week series of workshops. Teachers are trained family members with firsthand experience in the challenges and rewards of raising children with brain disorders.

Free of charge.

  1. Brain Biology and Diagnoses: ADD/ADHD, PDD/Autism, Tourette's Disorder, Conduct Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, Eating Disorders, Anxiety, Panic, Phobias, Early Onset Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder.
  2. Data organization and record keeping methods
  3. Effective Communication with providers, school personnel, and family members, coping and self care skills, problem management skills.
  4. Rehabilitation, recovery, and transition into adulthood.
  5. Advocacy, legal issues, dealing with stigma, emotional support through group settings.
